Oops, I did it again

Briney Spears biography cover

Britney Spears’ Heart to Heart
Britney and Lynne Spears

There seems to always be a bunch of dead wood in teen and youth biography.  Poor Britney hasn’t circulated (I mean her book ) for at least 3 years.  I think when it comes to youth and teen biography (and especially if the subject is still breathing) you almost have to purchase these titles knowing they will be out of date in the blink of an eye.  Youth biography needs to be current and work with and for that elusive “reluctant reader”.

  1. Did anyone actually believe Britney wrote this? And as for whoever did, did they decide to make the book as whiny as possible on purpose? Just from reading that one page, what we’ve got so far is, “I work so hard I can’t get out of bed. The tabloids are mean and upset my mom. Drunk people at clubs are rude to me. All I want to do is be a role model. I’m just a poor little innocent pop star, y’all. Waaah!” Sounds like a real fun read.

  2. My date of birth is only a couple of days from that of Britney Spears, so I use her as a barometer of my own life : she helps me to remember that at my age I could already be divorced with two kids I don’t have the custody of, be in constant rehab, with the best of my career already behind me, fat, and bald… well, suddenly, I feel happy about my life !

  3. That reminds me, what is the shelf life of Zac Efron? I have a book about him for the teens at my library, and NOBODY borrows it! I guess I just answered my own question.

  4. aww…I loved Britney when she was cute and innocent. Then hollywood ate her up. I blame Justin Timberlake.

I moved on to Jessica Simpson after Brit went wacky.
