A Diet for Women

Everywoman’s Diet Handbook
Tiffany
1980

You know it’s for the ladies because the cover is pink. The diet advice is old and probably not recommended by any reasonable nutritionist. Aside from questionable nutritional value, they are probably the most boring menus around. I get the feeling that the next level of dieting for these authors is to simply sniff the food and call it a meal.

Total Joy = Serving Your Husband

Total Joy
Morgan
1976

If you were around in the 1970s, the name Marabel Morgan will probably ring a bell. (We featured her first book the Total Woman a while back, but I think that post bit the dust years ago in one of our migrations.) She was one of those anti feminists from the 1970s that is all about personal fulfillment. Warning! The personal fulfillment part is from catering to your husband’s every need. Those poor feminists are unhappy because they don’t have a man. I remember my mother commenting that she was some kind of nut when she was on Phil Donahue in the 1970s.

Girls Guide to Becoming a Teen

Girl’s Guide to Becoming A Teen: Getting Used to Life in Your Changing Body
American Medical Association
2006

Submitter: Overall, it really isn’t a bad book. It has good information and covers the facts. However, no school in our area has a school nurse to go to as the book says to do. The biggest issue is the suggested websites to visit for more information. Okay, some are dead links, that happens. But when one suggested web link (outproud.org) opens to their page that discusses finding “hot girls who want to f***” and provides more website links for “teenF***” dating sites to hook up with the hot girls, well then there is an issue with this book. There is nothing wrong with out and proud; just don’t think it’s appropriate for teen health book to direct the teens to what seems to be “sex hook up sites”! American Medical Association printed and approved, but it is no longer on this library’s shelf.
