Don't Make Me Go Back Mommy

Satan for kids

Don’t Make Me Go Back, Mommy: A child’s book about satanic ritual abuse
Sanford & Evans
1990

Submitter: “I give thee the most awful library book ever. Seriously. I found this little gem a few years ago doing a project for a young adult class and ILL-ed it from [a seminary!] … but 89 libraries have it in WorldCat, mostly public! Not only is the subject horrible, but the storyline is jumbled, and the pictures are cheeeeeesey colored pencil.”

Holly: This is unbelievable. There is truly a book for every subject, isn’t there? Well, if your community has a problem with satanic rituals, this might be a great choice for your children’s section. Can you imagine a child stumbling upon this: “Mommy, I want THIS one!” Story time on the dark side.

Okay comrades, this is yet another gem plucked from a small public library.  This poor book had definitely seen better days.  The cover was damaged and the book had a serious “odor”.  Contents not withstanding, I think we can do better in both preservation efforts and in providing current information.  In my cursory examination of this title, this book  suggests that the Soviets had a great deal of control or influence on the Church.  Anyone know the background of this title?

I might be flirting with disaster to suggest this for inclusion in our little project. Today, I want to just throw caution to the wind! This little gem showed up by accident in our ILL bin. Of course everyone on staff LOVED this book and we passed it around all day! (I did have to define “petting” to some of our younger staff members!) For all of ALB fans that can remember the church before Vatican II or attended a Catholic school, you will love this book and the stroll down memory lane!
