Best of 2017- Part 1

Best of 2017 awardWell, we are finally at the end of 2017. We are still here. We haven’t run out of weird books, and our little dog and pony show still keeps plugging along. Who knew?

The ALB disclaimer: Remember, “awfulness” is in the eye or library of the beholder. Inclusion in our website is not to be considered a litmus test for weeding. Each library (and librarian) is unique. What is perfect for one library will not necessarily work in another. Your mileage may vary.

In other words, just because we find a book worth posting on this site is in no way an endorsement of censorship, civil unrest, the Trump presidency, Coldplay, Jar Jar Binks, clowns, the Kardashians, Spiderman vs Superman, cancellation of Firefly, and 50 Shades of Gray (movie or book).

Happy Holidays!

Terrible Titles and Crappy Covers

As time runs out on 2016, we include these last few titles to round out our lists of the best of the worst.  Think of this list as the “Miss Congeniality” list of ALB’s best of the worst. We had all sorts of extras that needed acknowledgement but didn’t make the cut to our original lists.

So enjoy this and here is to a healthy, happy 2017 for everyone!

Holly’s Favorites for 2016

This is always one of my favorite posts of the year! I have so many favorites this year that it was hard to narrow my list, so Mary and I compared lists and divided the ALB goodness between us. Crafting books were a big winner in 2016. (Or loser, depending on how you look at it…) Note the post, Pleasure in the Craft Section and experience the trauma of the apple head doll craft. Phonics Phun is also a big winner, as it speaks to my inner 12 year old boy sense of humor.

Enjoy!
