A Family That Fights
As I have said many times, I am not a big fan of bibliotherapy/message books. The worst are exemplified by our favorite author Doris. This one isn’t too bad as these books go. I think the illustrator is good and I love the use of pencil for these drawings. I am just not sure it possible to explain the nuances of problems in a 32 page picture book to an adult, let alone a child. Maybe these books make sense in a clinical setting, but I am not sure this type of book is helpful for an average public library patron. (The only advice is call 911 or the Domestic Violence Hotline) I hope any clinical professionals will weigh in on this type of material.
