BookCon Ticket Giveaway – HAS ENDED!

BookConLogoGuess who’s having another awesome giveaway? That’s right, your favorite librarians. We have two tickets to give away to…drum roll please…BookCon! We are thrilled to partner with BookCon to share information about this huge event with our readers, and also to allow one lucky person – and a friend – to attend!

It’s all happening on May 30 and 31, 2015 in New York City. Writers and celebrities like Meg Cabot (The Princess Diaries), Aisha Saeed (#WeNeedDiverseBooks), Anthony Breznican (Brutal Youth), and Libba Bray (The Gemma Doyle Trilogy), Jodi Picoult (My Sister’s Keeper)- and many, many more – will be there to tell stories, share content, meet and greet, and sign autographs. There will be literary quiz shows and other interactive activities too. BookCon is “where storytelling and pop culture collide.”

All you have to do is comment on this post and tell us why you’d like to attend. One person will be picked at random for the pair of tickets. (Sorry…we’re only getting you IN with two free tickets. Travel and accommodations are up to you.) Comments will close on March 31, 2015. Winners will be notified on April 1, 2015 by e-mail – so be sure to use a valid email address on the comment form.

Now hurry down to the comments and tell us why you want to attend. Good luck, everyone!

UPDATE/CLARIFICATION! The giveaway is for two Adult Saturday tickets good for entry on Saturday, May 30 only, not for both days!

The winner has been chosen at random by our trusty WordPress plugin! Jessica Green, check your email! Congratulations! Thanks for playing, everyone, and don’t forget that you can still buy tickets here.

  • I’d love to attend- I’m not a librarian, but I do love books (and work in a library). I also live in New Jersey, so I’d only need to take a bus to the City and home both ot either of the days. Fingers crossed.

  • I simply love to read. My husband and children are great readers too. Would love the opportunity to hear/meet authors and discover new ones.

  • I’m a librarian for students in grades 7-12 and would LOVE the opportunity to meet the authors of their favorite books while documenting the experience using social media! I’m also quite competitive and the quiz shows and interactive activities sound like they’re right up my alley! Travel is not a problem as I’m in upstate NY and could take the train. Thanks for considering!

  • I’d love to attend. As a volenter librarian and a writer this would be a career changing event.

  • It would be so nice to go meet all those awesome authors! I love reading, but never seem to have enough time to read as much as I’d like. I’m trying to rectify that by attempting to read 50 books this year. Wish me luck!!!

  • I’d love to go! I’ve never been to a conference that isn’t about the library profession. It would be great to be around people who love, read, and write books!

  • Pretty cool! I also didn’t know cons of this sort existed 🙂 I’m a pretty new librarian, so I’d love to have the opportunity to get to one of these ASAP!

  • I would love to go and be around my peers. I have been dying to go to this event.

  • I’m a librarian in the city, and I would love the chance to go to this–and I know just the fellow librarian that would be perfect to be my +1.

  • I want to attend because I saw the list of authors who will be there!

  • I am not a librarian but I love the written word so this would be an absolute thrill for me to go

  • Two days immersed in books in the publishing capital of the world? Who wouldn’t want to attend!?! Just the thought of it makes this librarian want to squee like a fangirl. But I won’t, ’cause I’m currently sitting at the reference desk and it would be awkward to have the patrons start shushing me.

  • I work in public libraries and as an independent book reviewer; BookCon is my jam, so to speak. Would love to attend.

  • In addition to the awesomeness of being in the same place as Meg Cabot and Libba Bray and others, I would love the opportunity to be exposed to all of those books and be in the know about what is new and hot in the literary world!

  • Two words: Nick Offerman!

  • Books + NY pizza

  • I just started a new job in a very small library in the Hudson Valley. At my former job I was able to go to BookExpo, but not BookCon, and at this library we just don’t have the budget to send anyone, but I would love to check out BookCon-so far there are great guests and lots to look forward to. My son got to meet David Mitchell last year, and just hearing him talk about it made me jealous. Besides, where else can you find so many smart people who love books all in one place!

  • I would love to visit NYC and take part in the book scene

  • I LOVE reading. I think it is AMAZING. I want to go to Bookcon soooo badly and there are so many people going I would like to meet!!!!

Thank you so much for this giveaway 🙂

  • I love reading. I love mindy kaling. I think I’ve read her book at least 11 times. Going to bookcon would be amazing because there are so many books that I haven’t read and to be able to meet the authors that are so passionate about their work makes me passionate about their story.

  • Always go to Book Expo.. and love that Book Con now has its own days to shine
last year as a combo it was just to crowded… would love to see all there is to see

  • I’m a “seasoned” librarian who has never had the chance to attend a BookCon. I’ve been soooo jealous of my colleagues who have been able to attend!

  • I would like to attend book con in NYC, with the intent to return to my community and recreate a mini book con, model best practices and inspire continued storytelling!

  • I would really like to attend because of great guests like BJ Novak, Mindy Kaling, Nick Offerman, Julianne Moore, etc., etc.

  • John Hodgman!!!!

  • Well, i already know about truly terrible books, thanks to your amazing website, so being surrounded by great authors and their latest treasures would be like a day in library heaven!

  • What a guest list! I’d love to attend! And I promise not to drool on any books. Or on any authors. (thanks for the giveaway!)

  • I’m an avid reader and aspiring author who will be traveling from Georgia for this purpose. There are so many great names on the

  • I’m a children’s librarian, volunteer at two elementary schools and go to a local college. I’ve loved books since a young age and would love to be able to meet some amazing authors! If I get the chance to go, I’d love to take with me a co-worker who loves books as much as I do! 🙂

  • This would be amazing! I’m a librarian, mom, teacher, blogger and hard-core book lover who would love the chance to immerse myself in bookishness for a weekend. I’ve always wanted to attend this but just never had an opportunity.

  • I’d love to go to Bookcon! I’m a librarian, I love books, and I love New York! There are so many great authors I’d love to meet! Also, I can only imagine the amazing book-related swag that they’ll have there…

  • Wow, I had no idea such a con existed…..Love to attend mostly as I recognize three quarter of the list!! I’ve also never been to NYC so I’d be thrilled to attend!

  • I couldn’t think of a better way to a weekend.Perhaps my dream will come true. Books! Books! Books! Between my BFF Pat and myself i know we read the authors mentioned. To meet them would be AMAZING! To meet new authors and get more books! OMG! Am i still standing!!!!!

  • Books, authors, people who cherish books and NYC? Count me in (free entry or not!)

  • I would love to attend this event! I never knew Book Con existed!!! I’m so excited I can hardly type!!! I want the tickets because, as eveyone who knows me knows, I’d rather read than eat!!! If I were only allowed to eat OR read, I’d be dead in 2-3 weeks… however long it would take to starve to death!!! I’ll take my mother who fostered my love of reading by getting me my first library card in kindergarten. Thanks, Mommy!

  • This sounds amazing!!!!:)
