“Your guide to matching feces with their species”
This is NOT an awful library book. It is awesome! I am actually going to get this book for our library at the first opportunity. Cute cover and great pictures/information. I am sure it will be a hit. Who can resist a good poop book?

“This is NOT an awful library book. It is awesome!”
I’m so glad you said that. I was all prepared to be disappointed (either in the quality of the book or in your taste). It does indeed look awesome.
I would like to query the efficacy of the C.I.A’s use of Tigger’s feces during ‘Nam.How did that (ahem) pan out I wonder…?
I hope that’s not sarcasm. This does seem like a good field guide, if that’s what you’re into.
Not sarcasm at all. I read the whole book last night. What a fun field guide.

What do you know? A bear really does sh*t in the woods….
I would totally read that. Unfortunately, no library in our state-wide consortium has it, but I will find a copy.
I would have bought this book several years ago when my kids were younger. They were home schooled and we took many nature classes, and hikes. One was on scat. They made tootsie-pop models!
This book’s cover looks too old for its publication date though. The inside looks great, I was expecting an older book with terrible black and white illustrations based on the cover.
What an awesome title!
I’m sure it’s available via interlibrary loan somewhere…
Just the book for our (San Diego) Zoo library!
WANT.
@pandamans: it is in Melcat. It is AWESOME!
I showed this post to a friend, and he says an excellent companion book to this one would be _Flattened Fauna: A Field Guide to Common Animals of Roads, Streets and Highways_ by Roger M. Knutson.

It would be handy to know if your house was being stalked by a mountain lion or a deer. This book could clue you in. Or, heaven forbid, a goldfish.
At my old work we had a few of these sorts of trail guides, and actually put together a few blog feature with scat guessing games.

A lot of kids think poop is really funny, so it’s actually a good way to engage them with biology and the Natural World. Adults too really.
Reminds me of the “Who Pooped in the Park?” series, which were a big hit with kids at my old library.
Like Lisa I thought this book was older based on the cover art.
Um,yeah,I write books about poo,and take photos of it….shitty job but someone has to do it.
Did this remind anyone else of Terry Pratchett’s “Snuff”?
I am DYING. I’ve just shared this link with all my friends who would appreciate it. Hmmm…. poop of a rabbit, or is it a rhino? Holy crap (haha, see what I did there?) but what a multiple choice question!
